I was lucky to recently ride on a beautiful vintage steam train on a brand new 'Garden of England' Tour in southern UK. This train journey with a difference was with the British Steam Dreams Railway Co. and our steam engine was the vintage 1946 Braunton 34046. which was hauling a collection of beautifully restored carriages from the 1950s. I enjoyed the Pullman style dining experience which consisted of a gourmet three-course lunch. This was a 5-hour circular tour which departed from London's Victoria train station and the video shows the whole delicious locally-sourced lunch which includes a glass of champagne, a bottle of wine and Pullman style dining experience (poached trout with crayfish tails followed by South Downs lamb, Canterbury apple tart and petits fours) as well as the scenery. We travelled through the Kent countryside and Kent Downs, past Rochester, Canterbury and the iconic white cliffs of Dover. We even saw the sea (the English Channel) at Folkestone. I also explore the other carriages and classes of travel which include First Class (where you're served a snack box) as well as Premium Standard, where you're served tea and coffee only. Amazingly I was allowed into the driver's cab when we stop to take on water - the film shows how I help shovel coal into the furnace (it's VERY hot work) and am even allowed to pull the whistle. This was REALLY exciting! The film also takes a sneak peek at the tiny kitchen on board in which the chef prepares food for 200 covers. The whole train ride and tour and experience was quite a thrill. The Steam Dreams Rail Co. offers daytrips on vintage steam trains across the British Isles. https://www.steamdreams.co.uk/
