Deichmann's adventure consisted of a triathlon that lasted more than 14 months, including 450 kilometres of swimming, 21,000 kilometres of cycling and more than 5,000 kilometres of running. Dozens of friends, families and fans welcomed Deichmann in Munich, as he celebrated by lifting his bike into the air and drinking some well-deserved champagne. "For me the absolute highlight of the trip was, of course, Mexico. Because it was so absurd what happened there. Every day a new surprise that you didn't expect at all, what the people who walk with you do, drug cartels, police escorts. A whole department with 40 police officers who run next to you with machine guns, a dog and sometimes 200 people who run after you. This is something that you just don't count on happening. And also the friendships that I made in Mexico that last and will last. That was something very, very special," explained Deichmann. --- SOT, Jonas Deichmann, Athlete and adventurer (German): "Yes, it's incredibly nice to be here again, it was a huge adventure. I've known for a long time that it would work when I got to Cancun, that was the real difficulty that was over. And then the last 4,000 km were again enjoyment." SOT, Jonas Deichmann, Athlete and adventurer (German): "But then again, now the last two days there was snowfall and worse conditions and now to be here again, with a lot of friends, also family, people I have not seen for 14 months. Yes that is great." SOT, Jonas Deichmann, Athlete and adventurer (German): "Above all, I am now happy to have time again, first and foremost. Because I've spent the last 14 months now, having a ten hour day, I ride my bike, I jog, email, and so on and now I will just wake up and have nothing to do."
